I love finding anything free, cheap, or meaningful and turning it into something unique and beautiful. Sometimes the best items are in your own garage, closet, attic, or even the trunk full of family heirlooms you’ve been neglecting for years.
After my grandmother passed away in 2009, my family and I have been going through all of the antiques, family heirlooms, and even basic household items slowly. I’ve saved many items, some are re-purposed, some are used for artwork, and others are great talking pieces! This is a trunk that was sitting in the garage covered in dirt and dust, looks like nothing special at first. After talking with my dad about it, I came to find out that my grandfather was a traveling salesman for Kensington Ware, based out of New Kensington, PA, where the old factory is about an 8 minute drive from my house. How cool!?
This trunk got cleaned up from the cobwebs and dust and is now part of my collection of trunks and suitcases in my living room.
